There are not a lot of people living in Antarctica and even less can be seen touring the place. Anyone up for a challenge is free to go experience this area at the southern tip of the world as it is not the exclusive property of a single person. Antarctica of today is practically the same Antarctica that was in existence some 30 million years before as untouched as ever. Abundant wildlife along with several research laboratories can be found in this continent but aside from that there is no more. The growing popularity of Antarctica as a travel destination can be attributed to the untarnished beauty associated with it.
Fitting inside the Arctic Circle the whole of Antarctica is also twice the breadth of another continent. The best way to get to this area is by air as its entirety is surrounded by seas. Those not keen on air travel can still go see Antarctica as an increasing number of cruise companies now head out to the continent as part of their tour itineraries. Antarctica is coated with snow or ice that can reach up to 6500 feet thick. A whopping 90 percent of total ice on earth is found here.
Other countries keep an eye on the extent of global warming by examining the icecaps and masses in Antarctica. Scientist keep close watch on the glacier activity on Antarctica as a means of determining whether climate change is indeed occurring. They also observe the wildlife of the region, which is surprisingly abundant given the rough terrain and the extreme climate conditions. Animal numbers increase and decrease based on what food is available and the ice and water proportions.
The continents of the world tag Antarctica as the tallest it being over 7000 feet. The climate in Antarctica is really dry and the temperatures are freezing. This part of the world receives as much precipitation as a typical desert. This bit of info however has ceased to be true because recent snowfall stats have gone up as a result of climate changes. The climatic changes were seen by scientists as also being responsible for the split and disappearance of big sections of Antarctica since 1995.
Many wild animals found a home in Antarctica and among them are different seals and whales and also penguins. Antarctica has also given a home to hulking squids. Spring offers an abundance of small marine crustaceans that orcas and humpbacks feed on so there is more of them swimming about for tourists to observe. This is the perfect time for penguin chicks to hatch too. People will probably a lot of Albatrosses soaring in the sky as well as a bunch of Leopard or Weddell seals at rest on the freezing coast.
Antarctica is a wonderfully mysterious, serenely beautiful part of the world. While this region has been mostly untouched by human hands, the addition of a number of research stations has allowed scientists to share details of the region with the rest of the world. The pull of Antarctica increases with each additional info released about the place so people want to travel there even more. The rise in demand for an Antarctica vacation has led many cruise lines to produce itineraries to this southernmost part of the globe.
If a vacation in Antarctica sounds appealing to you than start preparing and planning for it. There is a wide selection when it comes to Antarctica vacations since cruise companies develop different styles of them. Seagoing vessels cruising the region are often small and the opportunities for traveling there quite limited. Make sure you have time to spare when booking a cruise to Antarctica.

I can’t believe Cameroon lost. That was a quick exit. I expected that they had a great opportunity to do well in this years world cup. Maybe it was just bad luck. Maybe its time to jump on the Argentina bandwagon. Looks like Demichelis has already scored. Go Argentina. To make me feel better from that devistating loss by Cameroon, I have been listening to some funny jokes.. This was kinda funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3j7uSbccSc
