One of the most typical questions I encounter from people planning their world holidays is with regard to what is often the most dear part of the trip — their airfare. It seems that, for many people, finding inexpensive tickets is establishing tougher.

Fortunately, if you know what you’re on the lookout for and a way to find it, cheap international airline tickets don’t have to be impossible to find. These are some tips that may help you in looking for those tickets:

1) Plan your trip for the off-peak period. Suppose you need to take that trip to Europe that you’ve always wanted to take, but you find that your ticket to go in the summer is $1200. That price could be inexpensive for that time of year, but it isn’t always inexpensive for Europe. The issue is that you are planning this trip at the same time as families whose children are on summer holiday, or college students on their summer holiday.

For Europe, consider travelling there during the autumn or winter instead. Airlines are still flying there, but with the children in class, there’s less leisure travel, less demand, and, accordingly, lower prices. In fact, it’s not unusual to see that same ticket from the U.S. to Europe costs 1/2 of the price (or even less!) during the fall and winter as it does during the summer.

Before you buy, research what the off-season and top seasons are for your destination. If you’re flexible enough to go in the off-season, there are typically great deals to be had.

2) Make sure you’re meeting the minimum stay requirements. On many less expensive global tickets, there are minimum stay requirements that have got to be met. Your ticket may be more costly if you only stay for 5 days, as an example, than it might be for seven. (Of course, the additional price of lodging and food for two days might offset the fare difference in this instance, so consider whether the additional cost of these items offsets your fare savings.)

3) Be flexible with your dates and times. If you are prepared to fly a more strange route or on a red-eye flight, you can often find emptier flights and savings over the top periods and routes. Also, check the surrounding days — you could find, as the sale fare is sold out on Fri. , that you can leave Saturday instead and save hundreds of dollars.

Finding cheap international airline tickets — even using these tips — means trial and error and a lot of patience. If you keep these items in mind, though, you can save a lot of money for your dream vacation.
